USE OF DSC

Legal Compliance: Using Digital Signatures other than those validly issued to you is not only unethical but also illegal. It is imperative to adhere strictly to this legal warning to maintain the integrity of digital transactions.

Certification Agencies: Certification Agencies, appointed by the Controller of Certification Agencies (CCA) under the IT Act, 2000, play a pivotal role in issuing Digital Signature Certificates (DSCs). With eight authorized Certification Agencies sanctioned by the CCA, individuals and entities can obtain DSCs from these trusted sources.

List of Certifying Authorities:

  • National Informatics Center (NIC)

  • IDRBT Certifying Authority

  • SafeScrypt CA Services, Sify Communications Ltd.

  • (n) Code Solutions

  • CA

  • E-MUDHRA

  • CDAC

  • NSDL

  • Capricorn

  • Pantasign

  • IDSIGN

  • Verasys

  • XtraTrust

  • .Care4Sign

  • SignX

  • ProDigiSign

Validity of Digital Signatures: DSCs typically come with one or two-year validity periods, ensuring the continuity of secure transactions. Renewal options are available upon expiry, maintaining the seamless flow of digital operations.

Costing and Pricing: Cost considerations for DSCs encompass various factors, including the cost of the medium (such as a USB token), issuance fees, and renewal costs. Stakeholders have the flexibility to obtain DSCs from any approved Certification Agency, with issuance costs being market-driven.

Obtaining Digital Signature Certificates: Applicants have the convenience of approaching Certifying Authorities (CAs) directly with original supporting documents. Alternatively, where offered by CAs, Aadhar eKYC based authentication can streamline the process, eliminating the need for supporting documents. Bank-issued letters or certificates certified by the Bank Manager containing applicant information are also accepted.
